Manasses of Rockenhausen
Manasses, possibly son of Daniel1, was living in Rockenhausen by at least 17222
and had children: Daniel, Gabriel, and Raphael.
- Daniel Manasses (patronymic name), became a Schutzjude
(protected Jew) in Rockenhausen in 1745, married Friedgen
Alexander3, and had at least one son, Manasses (1759).
- Manasses Daniel "Daniel" lived in Rockenhausen and adopted the
surname KAHNWEILER. He married Hanne and had children: Sara, Johanetta
(1784), and Barbara (1788). He later married Judith Jacob and had
children: Daniel (1799), Benedict (1801), Hirsch (1804), unknown,
Mendel (1808), Gertrude (1810), Babette (1812), and Simon (1820). Daniel died in 1820.
- Gabriel Manasses became a Schutzjude in Rockenhausen in 1744. He had a daughter, Rosa.4
- Rosa
"Rosina" Gabriel married Mendel David "David" LIEBHOLD and had
children: Nathan (1773), Manasses (1779), Sara (1783), and Ottilie
(1793).
- Raphael Manasses married Goele Salomon and had children: Salomon (1756),
Manasses, and Reichel (1759).
- Salomon Raphael, born in Dörnbach, married Marguerite
Jacob, lived in Dielkirchen, and had children: Raphael (1789),
Schele (1791), Fratge (1801), and Esther (1804). In 1808, the family adopted the surname GUTMANN. Salomon died in Dielkirchen in 1814.
- Manasses Raphael married Githel "Judith", lived in Rockenhausen, and adopted
the surname GOTTLIEB.
- Reichel Raphael married Gabriel Nathan and lived in
Dörnbach. Both died prior to the surname adoptions, but their sons
adopted the surname BECKER.

A 1684 list of heads of household in Rockenhausen includes two Jews:
Samuel and Daniel. Given the very small size of the Jewish community
there (by 1785, there were still only four Jewish families in
Rockenhausen) and the propagation of the name Daniel in the family, the
latter
was likely an ancestor (father or grandfather of Manasses).
