RAKACHEVO POLE (Ракачево Поле)


a village on the Ptych river about a mile southeast of Staroe Selo and 12 miles west of Minsk in Minsk raion, Minsk voblast, Belarus


Jewish History

In 1903, Dovid Joselev Kaufman, a Vileyka townsman, had been residing for about 20 years on the farmstead of Rakachevo Pole in Staroselskaya district, renting a house and about 160 acres of land (including an apiary) from landowner Volotkovich of the Staroe Selo estate. Rakachevo Pole also included an apple orchard.

1. Although the above Russian military map was published in 1916, the information appears to be from a 1908 survey ("Печатано в Х-1916. По съемкам 1908 г. чермили в 1915 году горизонтали чертежи."). The number of houses in each locality is provided below the name (e.g, Staroje Siało has 10 houses and Rakachevo Pole has 2).
