Research Notes

1. It is not yet known with any certainty who the parents of Eliezer Bondi were. His gravestone in the Lichtenstadt cemetery does not list a father's name, only ליזר יום טוב, where Yom Tov is the Hebrew equivalent of the Italian Bondi meaning "good day".

2. The 1724 census lists all the children's names of Salomon Bondi except one unnamed 7 year old daughter (born c. 1717). However, there is a 1735 marriage record of Löbl Bernard Aaron and Rachel Ponti, daughter of Salomon Ponti of Lichtenstadt. If this was the unknown daughter from the 1724 census, she would have been about 18 years old at the time of marriage, which fits well. Therefore, it is concluded with relatively high confidence that Rachel is the name of this previously unknown daughter of Salomon.
