Joseph Cauffman 1

Levi Kaufmann married Fradel, daughter of Moises, and had
children: Meyer (1772) and Emanuel (1777).
- Meyer "Joseph" KAUFMANN married Barbara FROMANN (1770), lived
in Börrstadt, and had a son, David (1805).
- David KAUFMANN married
Caroline
KAHNHEIMER (1803) born in Meisenheim, residing in Alsenz, daughter of
Samuel (1775) and Hannetta (1774), in Börrstadt in
1830 and had children:
Fannie (1832), Joseph (1834), Mary (1836), Marcus (1839), and Hannah
(1842). The whole family immigrated to the United States in 1848. David
died in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1860. Caroline later moved to Rochester,
New York, where she died in 1879.
- Fannie CAUFFMAN remained single and died in Rochester in
1918.
- Joseph
CAUFFMAN married Mary STROUSS and had children: Bertha (1862), Hattie
(1864), Minnie (1866), Maurice (1867), Stella (1868), and Leo (1870).
Joseph died in Rochester in 1902.
- Mary CAUFFMAN married Elias
STROUSS and had children: Marcus E. (1862), David Edgar (1865), Emma
Lillian (1868), Frederick E. (1874), and Eugene M. (1875). Elias died
in Rochester in 1885 followed by Mary in 1930.
- Marcus CAUFFMAN
married Rose MONK, daughter of Leopold, and had children: David (1871),
Benjamin (1873), Harry (1875), and Clementine (1877). Marcus died in
Rochester in 1890.
- Hannah CAUFFMAN
married Henry BENEDICT, son of
Abraham and Fanny nee LÖWENSTEIN, in
Cleveland in 1867 and had children: Abraham (1868 in Lapeer, Michigan)
and Minnie H. (1871 in New York). Henry died in Rochester in 1892
followed by Hannah in 1924.
- Emanuel KAUFMANN married Sara FELS (1775) from Wattenheim,
daughter of
Joseph and Regina, daughter of Nathan, in Sembach in 1815.
