Notes
1. From Gluckl Hameln, p. 126:
"On the day before the festival of the New Year we prepared ourselves
in a timely manner and went to Emden and were the guests of Abraham of
Stadthagen. The latter and my husband are closely related. The father
of Abraham Emden was the Rabbi Mosche Kramer von Stadthagen and was the
cousin of my husband ... The Rabbi Abraham was a splendid man. Not only
did he treat us wonderfully and gave us all the honour in the world but
has as well another 6 invited guests sitting at his table, who had to
eat and drink everything just as we did, and I must say, I had never
seen anything like it elsewhere."
