Manasses, son of Daniel son of Samuel, became a Schutzjude in Rockenhausen in 1716 and and had children: Daniel, Gabriel, and Raphael. Manasses' father and grandfather also both lived in Rockenhausen.



Research Notes

1. A 1684 list of heads of household in Rockenhausen includes two Jews: Samuel and Daniel. Given the very small size of the Jewish community there (by 1785, there were still only four Jewish families in Rockenhausen) and the propagation of the name Daniel in the family, the latter was likely an ancestor (father or grandfather of Manasses).
