Leib PLON, possible son of Mortko Leybowicz,[1] married Tauba Marjem, lived in Trembowla, had children: Serka (1831) and Aron.[2]

Research Notes

1. Based on naming patterns, it is possible that Leib's father was named Mordcho/Mortko. Leib's son Aron's first born son in 1853 was named Meier Mordcho. His next son, in 1857, was named Leib. Thus, Leib was still alive in 1853 (otherwise, his name would have been the first priority for naming). Since Leib's was likely born around 1800, it is likely that his father was deceased by the 1850s and thus would have had next priority for naming, hence Meier Mordcho. Leib's daughter Serka also had a son, Mordcho Leib. Her other son, Wolf Icyk's second son was named Markus (i.e., Mortko) Leib (the first son was named Majer after Serka's father-in-law).

If Leib was born about 1800, his father, presumed to be named Mortko, might have been a young man in 1787 (the time of the Josephine Cadaster). The top part of the table below shows the Mortko's listed in the Trembowla Josephine Survey (1787). Since the patronym Mosiek and Manel don't appear in any frequency in later descendants, whereas Leyb was the name of his son, it is presumed that Mortko Leybowicz was Leyb Plon's father. Since Mortko was possibly just a young man in 1787, it's possible that his father would have been listed as well - perhaps, Leyba Mortkowicz?

2.  The 1820 Franciscan Survey of Trembowla lists one member of this family: Leyb Ploin of house No. 355. The 1878 marriage record of Serka Plon, daughter of Leib and Tauba Marjem, lists her as also being from house no. 355. According to Gazeta Lwowska edicts from 1851 and 1852, Aron also lived in house No. 355. Furthermore, Aron had a son named Leib, and three of Aron's children had daughters named Tauba.

3. Other likely related Plon families are:

Menachem Moses "Mendel" PLON married Brucha Hudes and had children: Beila (1843), Simon Wolf (1856), and Chawa (1863). Brucha likely died in the 1870s, after which Mendel likely married Gici and had children: Marjem Ruchel (1868) and Kacia Leja. From DNA testing, it was found that this paternal line belongs to the R1b1b2a1a (U106) haplogroup subclade.

Szmil Iure PLON, a cooper in Trembowla, married Sprinca and had children: Lea, Etia, and, likely, Boruch.
