Wolf of Heppenheim

Naftali Elieser "Lase" of Heppenheim, son of Moses Jehuda, son of Salman of Biblis,1 had a child: Jacob Moses Benjamin. Laze died in 1682.

Research Notes
1. In the Alsbach Jewish cemetery which contains over 2,100 extant gravestones, there are only 6 from the 1600s. Of these, three are sons of a "Moses Jehuda":
    a. Naftali Elieser "Lase" of Heppenheim, son of Moses Jehuda z"l (1682)
    b. David Salomo, son of Moses Jehuda z"l, son of the leader Salman of Biblis (1692)
    c. Uri Schraga, son of Moses Jehuda z"l (1697)

This seems like too much a coincidence for this Moses Jehuda not to refer to the same individual.

In what is allegedly the oldest reference to Jews living in Biblis, the Jurisdiktionalbuch des Oberamt Starkenburg (Jurisdictional book of the district of Starkenburg) [HStAD Best. C 3, No. 126/1] in 1668 mentions two Jews living in the village (Salomon and Hayum), each of whom had to pay 10 guilders in taxes. Presumably, this Salomon is the same as Salman of Biblis.
